Woman Charged in Violent Machete Attack

Suspect accused of slashing acquaintance on Gary street

A Merrillville, Ind., woman faces several felony charges after she allegedly attacked another woman with a machete.

Endia Rivera, 28, was charged Wednesday with attempted murder, aggravated battery and two more felony counts for the June 11 incident in Gary.

The victim, Angela Carrier, told investigators she was walking near 45th Avenue and Georgia Street when she saw Endia, who is an acquaintance, ride up in a car and yell, "Why can’t you stop and talk to me," according to the probable cause affidavit.

Carrier says Rivera grabbed a machete out of the car and started swinging at her while shouting that she stop looking at her men, according to the Post-Tribune.

Carrier suffered deep cuts to her upper body and suffered from blood clots, severe blood loss and other complications, according to the affidavit.

Rivera was arrested Tuesday night.
