Police Arrest Candy Store Worker on Drug Possession Charges

Police arrested a candy store worker after they discovered illegal drugs were being sold at the Southeast Side store.

Gloria Estrada, 46, of the 8200 block of South Houston, was charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of cannabis, according to a press release from police News Affairs.

South Chicago District tactical officers executed a search warrant on Saturday at the candy store, where narcotics sales were believed to have taken place, the release stated.

Officers found cocaine and marijuana along with cash they believed to be the proceeds from the sales, stated the release.

Earlier in the week, police arrested two men while investigating the store, police said. Information obtained from the two men helped police secure a search warrant for the location.

Estrada is scheduled to appear at 26th and California on Sunday.
