Evergreen Park Mayor James Sexton's dream of bringing the South Side Irish Parade to his town may be fizzling out.

Sexton pitched the idea of moving the parade after organizers announced they would not hold it "in its current form" next year.   The committee that put on the parade for 30 years felt it had gotten too far away from its family-friendly roots.

Evergreen Park residents seem to be split on the idea of hosting the parade, Sexton told the SouthTown Star.  The village would only consider hosting it if a majority of residents were interested.

"We would need an overwhelming majority (of residents' support) to do it," he said.
