Derrick Rose Ahead of Rehab Schedule

Rose underwent surgery to repair his ACL in May

Derrick Rose's older brother, Reggie, says the NBA all-star is ahead of schedule in his ACL rehab only eight weeks after surgery.

The promising report jibes with what surgeon Dr. Brian Cole announced earlier in the month. Rose tore his ACL in the Bulls playoff opener in late April and underwent surgery in May.

According to the elder Rose who spoke with ESPN Chicago, Derrick is “walking without a brace” and is “way ahead of schedule.”

“It's just keeping him focused, and we're not trying to rush him. Basically just rehab, rehab, rehab. We haven't put nothing basketball in his face.”

Derrick currently is in Los Angeles continuing his rehab, and being on the West Coast seems to help. His brother said it's a source of relaxation.

“It's just a peace of mind. He can't do too much in Chicago. The other day I talked to him, he was at Target picking stuff up. Stuff like that, you can't do in Chicago.”

Such celebrity sightings are nothing new in the Los Angeles area. Rose has spent part of every summer there since he's been a professional.

In an interview with GQ when he was featured on the March cover, Rose said, “It gets on my nerves that I just can't go out. ... You can't go here, you can't go there,” in reference to being a superstar in his hometown.
