Boil Order Issued in Park Forest

Some residents of south suburban Park Forest are being asked to boil their water following a water main break Wednesday morning.

The 16-inch main broke about 11:45 a.m. near Park Street and Westwood Drive, dropping water pressure in the distribution system, the village said in a statement on its website.

A precautionary boil order is in place for the Eastgate neighborhood and all other neighborhoods south of the Canadian National railroad, in accordance with IEPA guidelines, the village said.

Residents in those areas should boil water for at least five minutes before consuming it, the village said. The boil order affects about a third of village residents.

The order is in effect until further notice as crews repair the break and water quality tests are conducted, the village said.
