2018 St. Baldrick's to Raise Awareness, Funds for Children's Cancer Research

Several Chicago police departments are shaving their heads Sunday in solidarity with kids fighting cancer during.

Members of the Willowbrook, Darien, Summit Police Departments and the Illinois State Police are joining forces with other community members to participate in the annual St. Baldrick’s Foundation fundraiser.

The event scheduled to take place at the Kerry Piper Pub in Willowbrook from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., is meant to raise awareness and funds for children’s cancer research.

“St. Baldrick's funds some of the most brilliant childhood cancer research experts in the world to find cures and improve the quality of life for patients and survivors,” stated a news release. “The Foundation funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the United States government.”

Tim Kobler, a Willowbrook Police officer and executive board member of the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police, is one of this years’ event organizers.

“I can't think of a better way to show these children that we care and that we are committed to giving them a fighting chance in their battle with cancer,” he said.
