TV talk show host Ellen DeGeneres and partner Portia de Generes received a scare last week when they discovered a woman "lying in wait" underneath cushions on a chair on the couple's deck, reports US.

Karen Grace Sjoden, 49, was detained in the early morning hours of February 10 after a private security firm was contacted by one of the home owners. She was later turned over to the police.

The case took a more sinister turn on Valentine's Day when Sjoden was formally charged with trespassing in a Beverly Hills court. According to prosecution sources cited by Radar Online, she allegedly was found with a list of names and addresses of other Hollywood stars as well as what was described as a "rambling letter" that referenced Secreatary of State Hillary Clinton. Initially jailed on $5,000 bail, the judge upped the amount to $200,000. The case is set to go to trial March 7.

During her arraignment, Sjoden contested the arrest, saying that she being "set up" before telling the court that she was there working as a private investigator.
