The Buzz: Juan Thomas, born and raised in Aurora, is an attorney, small business owner, school board member, youth minister, and Township Clerk. In 2003, he founded his own law practice, The Thomas Group in America. Prior to that, he served as Labor Counsel to Illinois Secretary of State, Jesse White. Today, he serves as the National Secretary of the National Bar Association (NBA) and is a member of the NBA's Executive Committee.
If elected, Thomas plans to join as a co-sponsor on legislation such as the DREAM Act, to help with immigration reform. To attract economic development and promote job growth, he hopes to redevelop and revitalize communities like downtown Aurora and downtown Joliet. He will also support the passing of legislation like H.R. 870, the Full Employment & Training Act. Additionally, he believes that schools need resources to enact smaller class sizes, support special education needs, and give access to advanced technology to children.
