WX BRIEF A picture or two is worth a thousand words. See attached. Started as image 8240Near Franklin Grove and become the Fairdale/Rochelle/Kirkland Wedge. These photos capture the initial rope stage of development to when it reached its peak as a wedge tornado all in about 1 hour. Much more settled day ahead as gusty winds gradually ease and clouds break for sun. Still a chance for instability clouds and isolated showers later this afternoon, early evening as weak wave passes north, but expect most areas to stay dry for Sox Home Opener. Quiet tonight with chilly conditions, Saturday looks like real nice way to start the weekend. Some sunshine on Sunday, but models bring increasing clouds and chance for a few showers in the afternoon/evening timeframe. New runs will fine tune. No other issues. Andy

FW: Tornado photos Thought NBC5 might be interested in these. Attached are images of the tornado last night as it developed. These photos were captured by Walker Ashley, a professor in our meteorology program at Northern Illinois University Professor. He spent an hour to an hour and a half following it. Walker sent me this brief caption info when I asked where the photos were taken: Elephant trunk parts (funnel, elephant trunk): early life cycle near Franklin Grove, IL. Wedge tornado: north of Rochelle along I-39. Near exit 104 (sr 64) He sent me the last photo (8240) in a separate email. It shows the tornado near Franklin Park ... only a minute into life cyle. Walker is assisting with the National Weather Service survey today. Best wishes, Tom Parisi, NIU Media and Public Relations 815/753-3635
