Here's a rundown of what went down on Thursday.
-Ferocious wind gusts of up to 70 miles per hour blew through the area, downing trees, snapping branches, and causing damages to homes and other structures, according to officials.
-The severe weather also led to the brief issuance of a ground stop at O'Hare Airport, with all inbound flights being held at their originating airports, according to the FAA. The stop was lifted, but not before causing significant delays in departing flights.
-A Beyoncé concert scheduled for Soldier Field was delayed for more than two hours by the threat of severe weather. Concertgoers were forced to seek shelter in concourses or their vehicles as the ferocious storms blew through the area.
-More than 100,000 residents were left without power in Illinois and Indiana after the storms.
