After a mostly cloudy and mild morning, scattered showers and isolated storms are expected to move into the Chicago area. Some of these storms could potentially turn severe, depending on the conditions.

Much of the Chicago area is under a "marginal" risk for severe weather.
Any strong to severe storms that do develop threaten to bring lightning, heavy rain, gusty winds and possibly even hail.
A cold front will also pass through the area as the storms develop. Temps will fall into the mid- and upper-40s to areas north of Chicago and along the lakefront. Things stay in the 50s inland and even in the 60s in southern counties.
More storms are possible Wednesday night amid a breezy and chilly evening. Temperatures will likely rise quickly overnight and into the 60s by dawn.
While the chance for rain and storms lingers into Thursday morning, rain totals by the afternoon are expected to sit anywhere from .1 to .5 inches of rain in the Chicago area. Totals could rise even high for parts of northwest Indiana.
Things warm up for Thursday before dropping dramatically by Friday and into the weekend.
