Snow Totals Across the Chicago Area Monday

Snow is expected to end early Monday night, leaving between 3 to 6 inches across the area

    The latest snow system dropped several inches Monday afternoon across northwest Indiana and more than two inches in the Chicago suburbs.

    A Winter Weather Advisory that went into effect for northern Illinois and northwest Indiana at noon Monday will run until midnight. Snow is expected to die down Monday night, leaving between 3 to 6 inches of snow across the area.

    Bitter cold temperatures creating wind chill readings below zero will continue with overnight lows between -5 and 3 degrees in Chicago.

    Tuesday is expected to be mostly sunny and bitter cold in the morning. Temperatures will continue with highs in the mid- to upper-teens.

    Here's a look at snow totals from across the Illinois area as of 5 p.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service:

    Aurora: 1 inch
    O'Hare Airport: 1.9 inches
    Glenview: 2.3 inches
    Rockford: 2.1 inches
    Capron: 0.7 inches

    Snow is also falling across much of northern Indiana:

    Roseland: 5 inches
    Chesterton: 5.5 inches
    Valparaiso, IN: 5.5 inches
