Thunderstorms developing west of the Chicago area on Wednesday night could lead to isolated flooding and ponding of water on roadways, the National Weather Service says.
A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for DuPage, Kane, Kendall and Will counties until 7:45 p.m.
The storms, which spawned a severe thunderstorm warning in Ogle County aren’t expected to impact the Chicago area, but they could cause some issues through the evening hours for areas west of the city.
According to the NWS, the storms are moving extremely slowly, travelling at just 10 MPH or less as they continue to develop.
To the southwest, a funnel cloud was reported by law enforcement in Streator, IL on Wednesday afternoon. The sighting was reported around 3:35 p.m., and according to NBC 5 Storm Team Meteorologist Brant Miller, there could be more funnel clouds possible this afternoon and into the early evening hours.
Isolated thunderstorms are possible in various spots around the NBC viewing area, according to the NBC 5 Storm Team.
