Scattered Storms Could Bring Severe Weather to Parts of Chicago Area

The coverage of the storms is expected to remain law, but any storms that do develop bring with them the potential for damaging winds gusts of up to 60 mph, heavy downpours and small hail

The Chicago area could see some storms popping up Thursday evening, some of which could become severe.

A few scattered showers and isolated strong to severe storms could develop in the late afternoon and evening hours The coverage of the storms is expected to remain law, but any storms that do develop bring with them the potential for damaging winds gusts of up to 60 mph, heavy downpours and small hail.

Northern and western parts of the area are under a slight risk for severe weather while the rest remain under a marginal risk.

The storm threat will end from northwest to southeast across the area between 7 and 10 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
