Chicago Weather: Rain, Storms Possible Mid-Week, Into Weekend

On May 30, Chicago set a record for the wettest May since 1871 with 8.24 inches of rain. It broke the record set in 2018 with 8.21 inches.

The Chicago area's short-lived, rain-free forecast likely ends on Tuesday as a few showers and isolated storms become possible in the morning and then again later in the afternoon and evening.

And it doesn't end there, with more rain on the way Wednesday and into the weekend.

On Tuesday, a few spotty late-morning showers or isolated storms are likely in far western counties with a few strong storms possible mostly in areas south of I-88.

Scattered showers and storms are possible early Wednesday, then again later in the day. Wednesday conditions otherwise look partly cloudy, warm and humid with highs in the upper 70s to 80 degrees.

Thursday so far looks mainly dry with any storm threat well south of the metro area, but the rain threat returns Friday with a chance of showers and storms and highs in the low- to mid-70s.

Saturday and Sunday continue the trend with a chance of showers and storms each day and highs in the low- to mid-70s.

On May 30, Chicago set a record for the wettest May since 1871 with 8.24 inches of rain. It broke the record set in 2018 with 8.21 inches.
