After rain dampened rush hour Friday, slowing the morning commute, more scattered showers and storms are expected to return for the evening.
Though there will be dry conditions through the afternoon, heavy rain is possible in some locations by the evening. A few isolated storms could also become strong to severe with damaging winds of up to 60 mph possible.
The scattered showers and storms should continue on and off through late Saturday morning before tapering to scattered showers in the afternoon.
A Flash Flood Watch takes effect during the evening hours Friday and continues through Saturday afternoon for McHenry, Lake, DeKalb, Kane, DuPage, Cook and LaSalle counties in Illinois.

Heavy rain is likely over parts of the area with numerous, but scattered, thunderstorms possible. Some of the storms could become severe, bringing with them damaging winds, but the biggest threat will be heavy downpours. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are possible, the alert warns.
Temps will continue to fluctuate in the days ahead with mainly 60s Friday afternoon, 70s Saturday morning, falling through the afternoon, then cooler 60s again on Sunday.
Sunday morning will be overcast with showers and possibly a thunderstorm in the area. The early morning temperature at the start of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon will be in the upper-50s to near 60 degrees with a NE wind off the lake between 5 to 15 mph. A few showers and isolated storms will be possible in the afternoon as well.
