Enjoy it while it lasts Chicago, because Tuesday's warmth won't be here for long.

Though temperature highs will reach into the mid-60s, things will drop quickly during the evening hours.

Lows are expected to dip into the low- to mid-30s across the metro area, where they will stay for the morning hours Wednesday.

Wednesday looks to start off with rain and potentially a mix of sleet or snow north of Interstate 88. The afternoon will be windy and cold with periods of light rain showers as highs only reach to near 40 degrees.

A warm front moves in for Thursday, bringing the chance for some severe weather.

Heavy rain and a few strong to severe thunderstorms are possible for the afternoon and evening hours as highs vary dramatically across the area. Tempeatures are expected to reach into the low-50s in far northern counties and up to near 70 degrees for counties far south of Chicago.

Watch for changes in the storm predictions because the track can change everything, with the forecast details fine-tuned each day.

The temperature roller coaster continues Friday as cloudy, windy and cooler conditions return, bringing the possibility of a few flurries late in the day.

Highs are expected to stay in the 40s and 50s for the weekend with partly to mostly sunny skies and a light lake breeze.
