After Memorial Day saw severe weather across the Chicago area, more rain and storms are headed our way.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch was issued for LaSalle, Grundy, Kankakee counties in Illinois as well as Newton and Jasper counties in Indiana until 1 a.m. The NBC 5 Storm Team 5 was tracking storms that could bring significant flooding to parts of the Chicago area overnight.
Tuesday began as a quieter day, starting mostly cloudy, mild and humid. While an isolated shower or storm is possible in parts, most areas will remain dry until late evening with highs in the mid to upper 60s inland, reaching low 70s south of I-80.
Light winds will shift in the afternoon, causing temperatures to fall into the 50s by evening. NBC Storm Team 5 forecasts indicate that rain, likely to be heavy at times, along with a few embedded thunderstorms will move into the area late evening, reaching the city overnight.
These storms could bring strong winds and even hail before tapering off by dawn.
Wednesday will start mostly cloudy once again with a few rain showers and storms still possible in the morning. The afternoon looks to be mostly cloudy and dry with highs in the upper 60s to mid 70s before rain and storms return again late evening or at night.
That rain will continue through Thursday morning before breaking for a mostly cloudy, mild and humid afternoon with highs in the 70s, cooler by the lake.
Friday looks to be mostly sunny and pleasant with highs in the low to mid 70s, but cooler near the lake.
Saturday will see partly to mostly cloudy skies, with scattered showers and storms likely at times. Sunday appears poised to be partly sunny and pleasant with highs in the low to mid 70s, and the work week will start with similar conditions on Monday.
