Chicago Area Could See Snow in Rollercoaster Week of Weather

Chicago Cubs fans got lucky with beautiful weather for their home opener, but it won't stay that way for long

Chicago Cubs fans got lucky with beautiful weather for their home opener, but it won't stay that way for long with snow - yes, snow - possibly on its way back into the forecast later this week.

The week began with a sunny Monday morning, turning breezy and unseasonably warm in the afternoon with highs between 69 and 74 degrees, though a light breeze will make it cooler by the lake.

Monday evening turns partly cloudy with a cold front crossing the area, making conditions breezy and much cooler overnight with temperatures in the mid to upper 40s by dawn.

Tuesday looks to be mostly sunny, breezy and much cooler but still comfortable with highs in the upper 50s and low 60s.

Wednesday starts mostly cloudy with a chance of rain and snow in the morning, then rain showers by the afternoon, windy and much colder all day with highs in the mid to upper 40s.

Thursday will likely be windy and warmer with highs in the low 60s, but still mostly cloudy with showers and storms likely, potentially even strong to severe in the afternoon and evening. Watch for changes in this storm because the track can change everything, with the forecast details fine-tuned each day.

Then the weekend could start with snow again, as Friday will be cloudy, windy and cooler with highs in the 40s but rain showers possibly mixing with snow.

But the rest of the weekend could take a turn for the better, as Saturday and Sunday both look to be partly to mostly sunny and seasonable with highs in the 50s and a light lake breeze.
