Chicago Area Could See Temperatures in the 80s Next Week

There's a light at the end of the tunnel, Chicago.

Winter weather-weary Windy City residents can take solace in the fact that despite signs to the contrary, summer is, in fact, coming.

The Chicago area could see temperatures in the 80s as soon as next week.

High temperatures in the 50s on Wednesday were expected to give way to a clear and cold evening.

Thursday begins chilly but mostly sunny, turning milder in the afternoon with highs in the low- to mid- 60s, in the 50s along the lakefront.

Overnight Thursday into Friday morning will see a chance of showers, which are likely to clear for a breezy, sunny and cool afternoon with highs in the low- to mid- 50s, again cooler along the lakefront.

The weekend will gradually warm, beginning with a partly to mostly sunny Saturday, still cool for the season with highs in the mid- to upper- 50s.

Sunday will be milder, with highs in the 60s before the workweek warmth begins.

Monday looks to be mostly to partly sunny, windy and warmer with highs in the upper 70s.

For warm weather lovers, Tuesday is the day you've been waiting for, with highs that could reach the low 80s.

Don't get too excited yet though - Wednesday and Thursday bring a chance of showers into the forecast.
