Summer Weather Brings Summer Storms to Chicago-Area Forecast

As a taste of summer graces the Chicago area this week so will a taste of summer storms.

After Monday marked a gorgeous end to what was largely a cold and brutal April, May will start off on a higher note as temps rise into the 80s.

But with the warm temps comes the chance for some much-needed moisture.

As the area battles with a red flag warning, facing windy conditions and little humidity Tuesday, showers and the potential for isolated storms will develop late in the evening and continue into early Wednesday morning, particularly in the northwest suburbs.

The weather will mark the first of numerous chances for rain this week, some of which could bring severe storms.

There is a slight risk for severe weather in far northwest suburbs Wednesday and in some southwest suburbs on Thursday, leaving parts of the area under a slight and marginal risk both days.

Heavier rain and storms will be likely late Wednesday and into Thursday morning.

Thursday will start off with a few showers and isolated thunderstorms possible as highs sit in the mid- to upper-70s. By the evening, more showers and storms are likely, possibly growing strong to severe.
