Chicago will get a brief glimpse of summer-like weather this weekend.
Following several days of below-average temperatures this week, the area finally saw temps jump back into the 70s Friday and that’s where they will stay for the weekend.
Highs Saturday look to reach into the upper-70s, low-80s with cooler air expected along the lakefront.
With the warmer air, comes a chance for scattered showers and storms, some with heavy rain, but the weekend won’t be a wash out.
The chance for storms diminishes by Saturday evening and Sunday morning, with conditions staying mild and muggy.
The threat for storms returns Sunday afternoon and evening, however, ahead of a cold front that will send temps back down into the 60s by the middle of next week.
Some storms could become strong to severe, forecasters predict.
