The Chicago area could see some stormy weather in the days ahead.
Thunderstorms are possible overnight Tuesday and into Wednesday, bringing the threat of lightning and heavy rainfall.
The threat for several weather increases Wednesday when strong wind gusts and a tornado will be possible. The Chicago area remains under a marginal risk for severe weather beginning at 7 a.m.
While widespread rainfall is not anticipated, localized heavy rainfall with thunderstorms could bring heavier amounts of rain to area rivers already at risk of flooding.
By Thursday the risk for strong to marginally severe storms shifts to the east.
Temperatures will vary drastically across the Chicago area Wednesday.
Areas far south of Chicago could reach near 80 degrees while far northern counties will see highs barely reaching the low-50s. The large spread in temps is expected to continue Thursday.
