Get ready to see snow even before next week's blast of arctic-like weather.
Accumulating snow could potentially come to the Chicago area late Sunday night and last into early Monday morning.
While the snow is expected to taper off from west to east in the afternoon hours, lake effect snow remains a possiblity for portions of Northwest Indiana and Southwest Michigan through Tuesday.
On Monday, a cold front is expected to push across the area sending temperatures plunging to levels nearly 25 or 30 degrees below-average.
The forecast highs for Monday and Tuesday sit at 28 and 23 degrees, respectively, as of Saturday. The record on each day is 28 degrees, with Monday's record dating back to 1894 and Tuesday's set in 1995.
Chicago has already come close to breaking records with winter still more than one month away. This month started off with a temperature of 36.9 degrees, making it the second coldest start to November in history.
Although the bone-chilling temperatures are expected to stick around for a little while, relief doesn't appear to be too far away.
Temperatures are expected to be back in the mid-30s by the middle of next week, and could reach the low-40s by next weekend.
