Rainfall Totals Across Chicago Area So Far

Overnight and morning storms dumped several inches of rain on parts of the Chicago area, causing intense flooding that forced drivers out of their vehicles and prompted numerous rescue efforts.

Though rainfall continued throughout the morning for some suburbs, with a Flash Flood Warning in effect through the afternoon, early reports indicated more than 5 inches of rain had fallen by 3:30 a.m.

According to the National Weather Service, here are some of the rainfall totals reported so far (these numbers will be updated throughout the day to reflect changes): 

Lake Bluff: 5.38 inches

Fox Lake: 4.46 inches

Lake Villa: 5.31 inches

Elgin: 4.6 inches

Lindenhurst: 4.20 inches

Gurnee: 5.40 inches

Hoffman Estates: 1.70 inches

Libertyville: 5.17 inches

Lincolnshire: 1.01 inches

Round Lake Park: 7.13 inches

Mundelein: 6.75 inches

Lakemoor: 2.42 inches
