Light snow returns Monday afternoon, likely leaving behind about an inch of snow in Chicago, possibly more in some spots.

Look out for freezing drizzle threatening icy travel conditions in time for the homebound rush hour. Freezing rain into the night could plague Tuesday's morning commute, as well.

Until then Monday remains cold and breezy as light snow develops after 1 p.m. and continues through the evening. Tuesday looks mostly cloudy, damp and chilly with highs bouncing back into the high 30s.

Rain could mix with snow again late Wednesday afternoon and again on Thursday as temperatures turn cold and fall from the upper 30s.

The forecast levels out by Friday with partly sunny, breezy and chilly conditions expected. Highs hover in the mid- to upper-30s.
