Chicago Area to See Rain, Light Snow As Midwest Faces Blizzard Warnings

According to the Weather Channel, airports in Denver, Minneapolis and even Chicago could see flight delays

The Chicago area could see some snow this week, but the winter storm that has prompted blizzard warnings and watches across much of the Midwest will likely miss most of Illinois.

Areas like Des Moines and Green Bay could see anywhere from 6 inches to a foot of snow by late Wednesday. As for the Chicago area, an icy mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow will likely move in Tuesday morning with far northern counties seeing an inch or two of accumulation.

The precipitation will likely change to all rain throughout the day Tuesday, with a few thunderstorms possible in some southern counties and in northwest Indiana. Highs will reach into the upper 30s in the far north, into the low- to mid-40s in the city and possibly near 50 degrees in the far south.

The chance for a few snow showers returns throughout the day Wednesday with only minor accumulation possible. Highs will be in the low- to mid-30s but will quickly fall as the day goes on.

According to the Weather Channel, airports in Denver, Minneapolis and even Chicago could see flight delays.

Temps drop back into the upper-20s by Thursday as conditions turn partly sunny and breezy.

Light snow is possible once again late Friday and throughout the weekend with highs in the low-30s.
