A Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect for parts of the Chicago area Wednesday as a bitter blast continues to grip the state.
The advisory remains in effect until 11 a.m. Wednesday, and was issued for McHenry, Lake, DeKalb, Kane, LaSalle and Kendall counties in Illinois. It warns of wind chills between 20 and 30 below zero in the overnight hours into Wednesday morning.
The National Weather Service warned that this week's low wind chills could bring frost bite to exposed skin in less than 30 minutes if precautions aren't taken.
"Make sure you wear a hat and gloves," the advisory warned.

Across the metropolitan area Tuesday, temperature highs were expected to drop to the low-teens, with sub-zero wind chills expected throughout the day.
By 7 a.m., Chicago saw wind chills of -17 while DeKalb had dipped to -22.
The National Weather Service warns of an "excessive cold risk" throughout the week.
Highs are expected to remain in the low-teens Wednesday, and temperatures may not get back above 20 degrees in Chicago until after New Year's Day, according to some forecast models.
With a high of 21 degrees at midnight and a daytime high of just 15 degrees, Monday marked the coldest Christmas Day in Chicago in more than a decade.
