“Sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered,” the alert read

Part of the Chicago area could see the first frost of the season this weekend.

The National Weather Service on Friday issued a Frost Advisory for numerous northern Illinois counties, including McHenry, DeKalb and Kane counties. The advisory takes effect at 3 a.m. Saturday and will continue until 8 a.m.

The advisory warns of temperature lows in the low- to mid-30s.

“Sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered,” the alert read.

A Hazardous Weather Outlook released by the NWS also said that areas in Grundy, DuPage, Cook, LaSalle, Will, and Kankakee counties could experience frost on Friday night and into Saturday morning.

Highs Saturday are expected to reach into the low-60s, warming slightly for Sunday.

Temperatures are set to return to the upper-70s and low-80s next week.
