Friday Wind Chill Advisory Expires

The good news: Friday will be bright and sunny. The bad news: It's still cold. Dangerously cold.

A Wind Chill Advisory that went in effect at 2 a.m. runs until 9 a.m., with values dropping in the -15 to -30 degree range.

At 7 a.m., the air temperature was 8 degrees in the city, -3 degrees in Waukegan, and -11 degrees in Kankakee, but the breeze brought the "feels like" temperature much lower: -15 degrees at O'Hare International Airport, -9 in Romeoville, and -22 in Kankakee.

The Chicago area will return into the teens in temperature Friday with the sun shining as the snow showers leave and shift eastward. But that doesn’t mean the snow is done with us – two more significant snowstorms are headed for Chicago.

Accumulating snow is expected to begin hitting again Saturday night and continue to fall through Sunday and Monday night into Tuesday.

Global models predict the snow to bring up several inches, with two to three inches in the northern suburbs, three to four inches in the city, and four inches or more in the south suburbs.

On Tuesday it gets warmer – but much messier. The residual effects of the snow showers will bring on a moisture-filled mixture rain and sleet.
