A Gold Coast ramp closure could impact some workers' daily commute.
Construction started Monday at the northbound Michigan Avenue ramp to Lake Shore Drive, a stretch that hasn't received any major repairs since it was built in 1963.
The Chicago Department of Transportation said the ramp from Oak and Michigan to LSD will be closed until Nov. 16. Repairs not only will be made to the road's surface but also to the tunnel's retaining walls, which are starting to crumble.
In the meantime, drivers will be rerouted to the Inner Drive one mile north from Oak and Michigan to North LaSalle Boulevard. They'll take a right and go beneath Lake Shore Drive then enter the street using the on-ramp for North Avenue.
CDOT says the construction shouldn't affect southbound traffic off of LSD except for a couple minor lane closures during overnight hours.
