The website for the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District was experiencing “ongoing hack attempts” Thursday amid a major delay on the South Shore Line.
The transportation district said the hack attempts were causing service to be “intermittent” and advised riders to check the public.govdelivery.com site for further updates.
Earlier in the afternoon, all eastbound trains on the South Shore Line were being held at Millennium Station due to “overhead wire damage.”
Officials later revealed a wire had been struck by lightning at 130th Street west of Hegewisch.
