    More than 120 flights were canceled at Chicago's airports Monday evening as the area braced for another round of showers and storms, some potentially severe.

    O'Hare International Airport reported 125 cancelations and average delays of about 50 minutes. Midway International Airport had far fewer with only seven flights canceled.

    Scattered thunderstorms are likely in the early evening, with a few possibly bringing large hail, damaging winds and heavy rain.

    Any showers and storms will end early for partly cloudy, breezy and mild but humid conditions overnight.

    Part of Chicago's Lakefront Trail was closed Thursday as high winds and waves threatened to bring flooding to the lakeshore. NBC 5's Kye Martin reports.

    Tuesday looks to be partly to mostly sunny, breezy and warm with highs in the low to mid 80s. A few isolated storms will be possible in the evening or at night.

    The chance for showers continues through early morning Wednesday, otherwise the day looks to be partly to mostly sunny and warms with highs in the mid-80s.

    Thursday brings more partly sunny skies and looks to be warmer and more humid with highs in the mid to upper 80s. A few isolated storms could be possible in the evening.

    The weekend starts partly sunny, warm and humid with highs in the upper 80s on Friday, though isolated storms are once again possible.

    The chance for thunderstorms continues on Saturday, as does the warmth with highs in the 80s inland, but cooler along the lakefront.

    Sunday looks to be partly sunny and seasonably warm again for a smooth end to the summer weekend.
