From train tracks to bike racks, Chicago transportation is getting festive.
Chicago’s Divvy bike share system will release a special holiday bike into its 300-station transit system Friday.
The bike, dubbed "HoliDivvy," is wrapped in a candy cane design that is fully reflective at night, according to a release.
“The HoliDivvy bike will be a fun and cheerful way for Chicagoans to use Divvy bike sharing during the holiday season. Even in cold weather, Divvy remains a transportation option for holiday shoppers and festive revelers,” Mayor Rahm Emanuel said in a statement. “I wish all Divvy riders a safe and warm holiday season.”
The bike’s art was designed by local artist collaborative Spoken Art, which designs reflective decals for safe bicycle riding.
Those who spot the holiday bike can post photos on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook with the hashtag #HOLIDIVVY to be entered for a special Divvy beanie cap or an annual membership to give a as a gift or keep for themselves.
The bike will remain on Chicago streets through New Year’s Day, officials said.
