Several Injured in Chain-Reaction Crash in Rosemont

Eight people were taken to area hospitals, none with life threatening injuries

Twelve people were injured in a crash involving a hotel shuttle bus and car on Thursday evening.

The crash happened about 6:25 p.m. on Interstate 90 westbound near Lee Street by the All State Arena, in Rosemont, according to an Illinois State Police spokesperson.

Authorities said the Holiday Inn bus stopped after being struck from behind by a car. A third vehicle then crashed into the car.

Nine of the dozen people were taken to area hospitals, though none with life-threatening injuries, said Art Zern with the Des Plaines Fire Department. There was significant damage to one of the cars and the undercarriage of the van, he said.

Three of the injured were taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge; two were taken to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village; two were taken to Northwest Community Healtchare in Arlington Heights; and one was taken to Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview, State Police said.

I-90 near the Devon Toll Plaza was shut down for a while but has since reopened.
