A woman gave birth on the shoulder of the Dan Ryan Expressway Wednesday morning, Illinois State Police confirmed.
Police said the woman delivered the baby girl with help from the Chicago Fire Department at about 2 a.m. on the northbound I-90/94 at 31st Street in the express lanes.
Baby and mother were taken to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in good condition, police said, and are doing well.
