Randolph-Wacker Intersection Reopens

The intersection is one of seven being reconfigured

Good news for those who drive in the Loop.

The intersection of Randolph and Wacker reopens Friday afternoon.

City officials say two westbound lanes of Randolph are expected to reopen prior to the afternoon rush hour.

Reconstruction closed the intersection of Randolph Street at Wacker Drive April 15. It's the first of seven downtown intersections to get a new look as part of a $300 million project.

Wacker Drive is being rebuilt from Washington to Monroe this year and from Monroe to Van Buren next year. Crews will also reconfigure the interchange at Wacker and Congress Parkway.

The current construction phase from Randolph to Washington is scheduled to last through mid-summer.
