A pedestrian was killed early Friday in a hit-and-run crash on Chicago's Southwest Side, authorities said.
Chicago Police and the Illinois Department of Transportation confirmed a man, possibly a newspaper vendor, was struck by a vehicle at about 4:30 a.m. at Damen Avenue and Interstate-55.
The vehicle fled the scene on Damen Avenue, police said, and two people later were taken into custody at a different location.
Sky5 images showed newspapers scattered over the road. Police continue to investigate the crash.
Damen was shut down over I-55 from Archer to South Blue Island avenues.
