Trains Resume Service After Halt at Union Station

Delays were expected

Trains were unable to enter or exit Chicago's Union Station due to an Amtrak signal system failure during rush hour Thursday morning.

The issue was impacting numerous lines for both Metra and Amtrak just after 9 a.m.

A spokesman for Amtrak said there were issues getting a signal "to and from the signalling system."

Delays were expected for both Metra and Amtrak but service was resuming just after 9:30 a.m., according to spokesman Mark Magliar.
