Lollapalooza Road Closures Begin

Several streets have already been closed in the days leading up to the event

Streets around Chicago’s Grant Park are shutting down as the city sets up for Lollapalooza.

Preparations for bringing in 170 bands to the massive event are already underway, meaning a list of detours and street closures will make it difficult to drive around downtown.

Several streets have already been closed in the days leading up to the event:

Balbo from Columbus to Lake Shore Drive (to reopen on Thursday, Aug. 4)

Jackson from Columbus to Lake Shore Drive (to reopen Wednesday, Aug. 3)

Columbus from Monroe to Roosevelt (to reopen Monday, Aug. 1)

Congress Parkway, including Columbus Circle, from Michigan to Columbus (to reopen Monday, Aug. 1)

The festival will be bigger than ever for its 25th anniversary this year. It’s been extended from three to four days, running for the first time Thursday through Sunday. About 100,000 people are expected to attend each day of the four day festival.
