7 Injured in Crash Into House

An SUV crashed into a house after colliding with another vehicle at Kolmar and West Devon avenues

Seven people were hurt early Tuesday in a crash on Chicago's Northwest Side, Chicago Police said.

A car and SUV collided around 6 a.m. at North Kolmar Avenue near West Devon Avenue in the Sauganash neighborhood, police said. The crash sent the two vehicles veering off the road and toward a house in the 6300 block of Kolmar.

The SUV struck the house near its entrance, and the car ended up on the home's front lawn. An EMS 1 Plan was called, summoning at least three fire trucks and five ambulances.

Chicago Police News Affairs confirmed at least seven people were injured. One person was in serious-to-critical condition and three others in fair-to-serious condition. The others were treated at the scene of the crash.

The homeowner told the Chicago Tribune he ran down the stairs to find two vehicles in his yard and people lying on his grass. He said his family was so scared, rushing out of the house to call 911.

It's not clear whether the SUV caused structural damage to the home.
