A Chicago police officer was charged Friday for driving the wrong way on I-57 near 111th Street while under the influence, police said.

Illinois State Police received multiple 911 calls around 5:45 a.m. about a 2010 Black Mitsubishi Outlander traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of I-57.

The driver, 33-year-old Danny Sevilla, eventually stopped without incident, police said. Sevilla was charged with driving under the influence and driving the wrong way.

There were no passengers in Sevilla's vehicle, police said, and no injuries were reported.

Chicago police said Sevilla has been "relieved of his police powers and placed on administrative duties."
