CTA Red Line Moving Again After Person Found Dead on Tracks

CTA Red Line trains were temporarily halted on the South Side after a person was found dead on the tracks Wednesday morning.

The male was found dead on the tracks at the 87th Street station about 7 a.m., according to Fire Media Affairs. His body was transported to St. Bernard Hospital.

It was not immediately clear how he got onto the tracks, how long he had been there or whether he had been hit by a train or came into contact with the electrified third rail, according to fire officials and CTA spokeswoman Tammy Chase.

Red Line service was temporarily suspended between the 95th and 69th street stations, Chase said.

However, normal service resumed a few minutes before 8 a.m., though trains were bypassed the 87th Street station and some residual delays were expected, according to the transit agency.
