Metra Service Back To Normal After Broken Rail

Metra service is mostly back to normal after crews fixed a broken rail that temporarily affected track assignments Monday afternoon.

Three tracks normally used during the evening rush hour were temporarily out of service Monday because of the broken rail at the south end of the station, according to Metra spokesperson Meg Reile.

As of about 4:45 p.m., the rail had been repaired and all BNSF and Southwest Service trains will depart from their usual platforms during the evening rush, Reile said.

However, track changes for outbound trains on the Heritage Corridor will continue to be in effect and passengers are advised to review gate boarding information, the rail agency said.

Trains on all three lines are running on schedule, according to Metra's web site.
