CTA Could Close 5 ‘L' Stops

As many as five "L" stops could close under a new plan being floated by the CTA, and officials want to hear what you think.

A public hearing is being held tonight to gauge public concern about the closures, the Sun-Times reports. Stations under consideration are Thorndale, Lawrence and Jarvis stops on the Red Line, and Foster and South Boulevard stops along the Purple Line in Evanston.

Officials say some of the stations will be moved only a short distance away.

Also part of the plan is track and station repair along 9.5 miles from Belmont to Linden in Evanston, including making 15 of 21 stations handicap accessible.

If you have questions or concerns about the closures, tonight's meeting is at 6 at the Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center, 1655 Foster St., in Evanston.
