    Police in McHenry County on Sunday were looking for a white passenger car or SUV with damage to one of the headlights after a boy was struck and killed the night earlier.

    The boy, 6, was hit in the area of 4600 Franklinville Road, in McHenry County, shortly after 9 p.m. The area is in a northwest suburban rural area between Woodstock and Marengo.

    Witnesses said the vehicle took off after hitting the boy, heading northbound on Franklinville Road. The boy was taken to Centegra Hospital in Woodstock where he was pronounced dead.

    The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office was investigating. Anyone with information was urged to call authorities at 815-338-2144 or Crime Stoppers at 800-762-STOP.
