Multiple Crashes Reported on Chicago-Area Expressways

Multiple accidents were reported across the Chicago area early Tuesday, as light snow made for slick road conditions during the morning commute.

The left lane was blocked on inbound I-290 between Wolf Road and Harlem Avenue due to an accident, causing about a delay of about 30 minutes.

The entrance ramp onto the Eisenhower Expressway at Harlem Avenue was also closed due to a crash, while another incident blocked the left lane of inbound I-290 at Central Avenue.

On the outbound side, a crash blocked the two right lanes of the Eisenhower between Independence Blvd and Cicero Avenue, resulting in stop-and-go traffic.

Also in the outbound lanes of I-290, an accident blocked the left lane between 17th Avenue and Wolf Road, resulting in a 22-minute delay.

On I-294, delays persisted after an earlier traffic in the northbound lanes between 95th Street and the Hinsdale Oasis.

Also on the Tri-State Tollway, stop-and-go traffic was reported between I-88 and St. Charles Rd., and again between St. Charles Rd. and I-290 due to a crash blocking the shoulder.

On the inbound Stevenson Expressway, an accident caused major delays between Lemont Road and the Tri-State.

Experts recommend driving with extra caution in snowy and slick conditions, leaving extra time and room to brake.
