Tree on Tracks Halts Metra Electric Trains on Far South Side

Metra Electric trains were halted in both directions Monday morning because a tree fell across the tracks in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side.

Just after 5 a.m., trains in both directions were halted at State Street near 121st Street because of a tree that fell across the tracks, according to Metra.

Crews were dispatched to remove the tree, but the duration of the delay was not immediately known, Metra said.

Riders may consider using Rock Island trains at Vermont Street in Blue Island as an alternative route.
