Dog Rescue Temporarily Shuts Down Leftbound Lane on Kennedy

A lane was closed on the Kennedy Expressway in the middle of heavy rush hour traffic Tuesday as officials tried to rescue a stray dog from under a car.

A team of at least three IDOT workers were seen trying to lure the dog from underneath an SUV around 4:30 p.m.

The left lane of the Kennedy was shut down during the rescue causing inbound delays of at least 55 minutes from O'Hare to Addison.

State police called animal control which showed up on the scene soon after and successfully saved the animal.

No information has been released as to how the dog first lodged itself under the car in the middle of the highway.
