There are many things men don’t understand, and many things they just never will.
One of the common things not understood by men is the obsession women tend to have with bags. You know what we're talking about. Bags – purses, clutches, totes, we love ‘em in any form. We love a good name-brand designer bag just like everyone else, don’t get us wrong. But it's not not to fall hard for the ones that are few and far between as well. Thus, our head over heels fall for a particular clutch that is truly one-of-a-kind.
It is called the Obi clutch, and it can be found in an adorable store called Primitive for a relatively inexpensive hot bag price of $295. Its flagship location on Jefferson is chock-full of Asian and Japanese artifacts, antiques, objects, furniture and prints. The clutches are stunning, and rich with cultural and historical significance - the fabric on each clutch is composed from Obi silk, taken from the actual Obi sash around a Kimono. Scared someone else will be seen across the restaurant holding your beloved purchase? Not likely. Only four clutches can be manufactured from the same silk brocade material. The purses hang in front with a variety of elaborate or very simply tied sashes in the back of the kimono. Adorable!
And the history doesn’t end there. The Obi clutches are vintage pre-WWII pieces from the 30’s and 40’s with jaw-dropping detail, featuring a hidden shoulder strap to convert the clutch from an elegant evening ensemble to an elegant daytime shoulder bag and a variety of colors to choose from. Every clutch is a little different, so no one else can steal your thunder.
